School workshops

Artwork by Jack Ansell-Lee

Over the past few years I have made several visits to schools to run comic art workshops. I also once ran a full-day adult course at the Millennium Gallery in Sheffield.

I am really interested in working with primary schools, having led many fun workshops with Y3-Y5 pupils in several schools.

I have run workshops about the history of comics, in which we made our own page of comic art (using panel templates I provided) and a lesson in superhero & villain character creation. Again I made some templates this time to help out those less used to drawing figures.

I throw myself into my workshops fully and make sure everyone leaves with a handful of great artwork and a big grin. I love working with children and it's a great alternative to my average day at the drawing board.

Please get in touch if you would like me to visit your school (see below for my email address). I hold an up to date Basic Disclosure Certificate.

Testimonials

Vale View Primary School - Reddish
"During the workshop, Jim inspired the children to create their own amazing comic strips. Jim has a great way of putting the children at ease and sharing his ideas, knowledge and expertise. To discuss the successful career of an artist has had a huge impact on the children in my class. Children have gone home and created comic books of their own which has been wonderful!

Please come again Jim!"
